What Finishes can be applied over Prelude?
Prelude is designed exclusively for use as a primer with water based Lifeline brand stains including Lifeline Ultra 2, Lifeline Exterior, and Lifeline Interior. Prelude should never be used as a primer for any oil or waterborne oil based finishes such as Woodguard, Sikkens Cetol Log and Siding or Nature’s Edge.
How do you apply Prelude?
Prelude may be applied with a brush or an airless sprayer. When applying with an airless sprayer always back brush the product into the wood. All surfaces where Prelude is being applied should be free of discoloration and contaminates including media grit, dirt, dust, grayed wood, as well as mold and mildew. Prelude should be applied when temperatures are between 40 and 90 degrees and out of direct sunlight. Any borate application using Shellguard RTU must be completed and allowed to dry for 1-3 days before applying Prelude.
Prelude cleanup is a snap with warm soapy water. To remove Prelude that has dried, soften the dried Prelude with alcohol or mineral spirits and wash with warm soapy water.
